Lawson, the author of Frenzied I iuance," in giving evidonce before the Senate's Commission of Inquiry into the contributions to the campaign funds of the political parties, related the story of a plot to nominate a Presidential candidato satisfactory to tho Wall Street interest?. To defeat Mr. Roosevelt at tho National Convention, the nomination of Mr. Tat't was planned, and no was thereafter supported. Then it was proposed to urge Mr. Roosevelt to run as a third candidate; and'a milliondollar fund was arranged in order to create a deadlock at the Democratic Convention, and thus secure the nomination of a dark horse" as the Democratic candidate who would be elected President and obey Wall Street.
