Vice-Regal. Yesterday his Excellency tho Governor opened- the new dairy factory, erected by Messrs. J. Nathan and Co., at Waiohiki (Hawke's Bny), adjoining the golf links. He is staying at Otatara as the guest of Mr. G. P. Donnelly. From to-day till Monday or Tuesday, when ho returns to Wellington he will be the guest of Mr. G. N. Pharassyn, at Havelock NorthPress Association. Mr. W. Deck, chairman of the Wellington Branch of the Shipowners' Federation Association, leaves for Auckland to-morrow to attend tho annual meeting of the association on Friday next. Tho members of the Eed Dandies Company left for Sydney by tho Maunganui yesterday en route to Adelaide, where they are to perform during the summer months. Mr. J. D. Williams, -managing director of the Greater J. D. Williams Company, leaves for Auckland to-day en routo to Sydney. Mr. F. Dight, representative in Now Zealand for tho Manufacturers' Agency, Ltd., left for Sydnoy last evening by tho Maunganui on a holiday trip. The candidates | for tho (position of secretary of tho Wellington Drivers' Union were . Mr. D. Blackie (retiring secretary) and Mr. A. Parlane (ex-president of tho union). The result of tho ballot was declared last evening, when it was announced that Mr. Blackie had been reelected. Among tho guests staying at tho Grand Hotel yesterday were: Mr. Th. Bruno Steinhorst, Peking, Messrs. T J. and W. Trelonr, New South Wales; Mr. Arnold Isaacson, Melbourne! Mr. Inn Robertson, Scotland; Mr. and Mrs. M'Kinnon, nnd Messrs. W. Gearing, R. W. Walker and Leo. Henry, Sydney. Word has been received in Gisborne of tho death from pneumonia of Mr. Duncan M'Neiil, manager of Messrs. Frnill and Co.'s land business. Ho was a son of Mr. Alex. M'Neill, Royal Engineers.

Mr. J. Macintosh, of the firm of Macintosh and Co., vWellington, left for Sydney by tho Maunganui yesterday.
