HERD OF CATTLE DISAPPEARS.

AN AKKEST MADE. About August 15 last a herd of fifteen cattle, belonging, to Messrs. Wit-ton, Breen, Bell, and Moxham, disappeared from the Tinakori Hills. For some time the owners hunted for them, and then they reported the matter to the police. Last week Detective Andrews went to Masterton in connection with the case, and on Saturday he arrested a man named Cuthbert William Bridge on a charge of his having .stolen the cattle.. The value of the herd is set down as £1' ss. Bridge is to appear at the Magistrate's Court in Wellington this morning.
