COLERIDGE STRIKE OVER.

THE NATURE OF THE NEW TERMS. (By Teleeraph.-ProEB Association,) Christchurch, October 5. Advice received in Chrislchnrcli to-day from Lake Coleridge states the dispute between the tunnel contractor (Mr. J. M'WilliamsJ.and his men has been, settled, and tho -strike declared off. Jlr. A. Paterson, secretary of the General Labourers' Union, informed a reporter that tho inquiry had proved all the mon's allegations right up to the hilt, and practically all the men's demands had been conceded by Mr. M'Williams. Tho demands conceded wore:—Wages, lls. per shift; engine-drivers, 10ts. Cd.; surfacemen, 10s. An engine-driver who hid been dismissed is to bo reinstated. All workmen are to be paid time and a. half for overtime on and double time for Sunday work. Ladders aro to be immediately placed in tho shafts, and all employees out on striko are to be reinstated. Bath-rooms and change-rooms are to bo immediately finished. Tho contractor agrees to recognise the Lake Coleridge branch of the Canterbury Labourers' Union in all matters where disputes arise. The union, on the other hand, has abandoned their demand for the dismissal of the carpenters who refused to strike, but the contractor Is sending them away to another part of the works where they will not be amongst the other men at all.
