"At Home" at Kenilworth. Parliament, with its cares and tribulations, appeared to be a thing utterly forgotten by members yesterday, when they met, in friendly battle, Hansard and press representatives, in a tennis tournament played off at Kenilworth. The Cadets in Canada. •A message in a recent cablegram from Canada states that the New Zealand Cadets won the marching and- manual drill contests, also the award for best appearance, ■ securing tho three trophies awarded by the Empire Club, the Daughters of Empire, and Earl Grey., Australia was first in order of excellence for military accomplishments, New Zealand being second. For the Battleship New Zealand. The lady members of the Navy League are earnestly putting into action an idea to present a Union Jack and a white ensign to the battleship New Zealand on her arrival hero next year. Already between J350 and ,£6O have been subscribed, in shillings, by adults, and pennies and threepences by school children. Tho surplus will be given towards gunnery prizes on the battleship. Local subscriptions may be sent to Mr. R. Darroch, Roseneath School. Feilding Notes. Tho Bridge Club met last week at Mrs. Horrock's. Among tho players were:— Mesdames Gillespie, Miles, Hall, Atkinson, Clayton, Gorton, Halliday, M'Allum, Carr, Misses Spain and Ferguson. ,Miss Ferguson has left for To Kuiti. Mrs. Roberts has returned from Wellington. Mrs. M'Pherson'has returned from Palmerston. Mrs. Stewart, has gone to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Gillespie (Blenheim) are the guests of Mrs. 0. N. Gillespie. Mrs. Wall (ICairanga) has gone to Day's Bay. Miss F. Spain has been spending hex holidays at Mrs. Meyrick's. Jlrs. and Miss Wheeler have returned from the north. Stewart, Misses Kathleen and Leila Stewart, of Tasman Street, leave to-morrow on a visit to Christchurch Mid Dunedin. Mrs. Evans (Nelson), who has been spending a few days in Wellington since her return from a visit to Napier, left for the south on Saturday evening, on a visit to her mother. Miss Evans left lor Nelson the same day. Mi=s Wolff, Masterton, is visiting Wellington, and 13 staying at Miss Malcolm's. The engagement is announced of Miss Flora M'Donald, second daughter of Mr. J R.
