AMERICAN TEAJPS VISIT. A meeting of the Wellington Centre oi tho New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held, on Tuesday evening, Mr, R. W, M'Villy presiding. The Wairarapa Centre wrote asking pen mission to hold a meeting on' Boxing Day, After discussion it was decided that a circular letter be sont to all affiliated clubs asking them to select dates for fixtures for the coming season, and submit eume to the annual meeting of the Wellington Centre, which is to be held on October 2G. Subject to 11;o usual conditions beiiijj complied with, permission was granted ,to the United ' Labour Demonstration Committee to include amateur events in their sports programme for Labour Day. Air, J. B; Holt tvas appointed judgo of the walking events in this connection. P. M'Croll wrote applying for reinstatement aS'an amateur. It was decided to forward the application to the council of the N.Z.i.A.A. for favourable consideration under Clause B. The Palmerston North Harriets were affiliated to tho Wellington Centre. Correspondence was received from the council,.of the _ New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association regarding the proposed visit of an American team, consisting of five members, to New Zealand during tho copiiug season. It was decided to givo the project the Wellington Centre's hearty support, and it was also resolved that a guarantee of <£60 bo given towards the expenses of the tour, the New Zealand Council to take hah of tho net profits. Mr. Dunn wrote asking for a ruling as to whether a 'manager of a professional tng-of-war team would forfeit his amateur status by acting in that capacity. The chairman ruled thut a manager of such a team would break his amateur status if. he received any pecuniary gain. The decision was based on the rules dealing with jurisdiction and the amateur'defiliition.
