THE DISMASTED BARQUENTINE.
INQUIRY OPENED. The Collector of Customs at Wellington commenced a preliminary inquiry yesterday into tho circumstances surrounding tho dismasting of-tub barquehtine Wanganui early on Friday morning whilst bound from Wanganui to Sydney. Tho remainder of the evidenco will be taken to-day, at tho conclusion of which the papers will be forwarded to the Marino Department for further consideration. Meantime (he Wanganui remains anchored in the stream awaiting instructions from herowncrs.
