EARLY SETTLERS.

FIRST RE-UNION TO-NIGHT. (

Tho first annual re-uuion of early settlers nnd their descendants, under tho auspices of the Early Settlers and Historical Association of Wellington, is to bo held this evening in the large Town Hall, and a great gathering of old pioneers is expected. ■ His Excellency the Governor has promised to address the audience, and short and interesting speeches on appropriate subjects will also be given by the Prime Minister (tho Hon. W. 1?. Massoy), the Mayor (Mr. D. M'Laron), Sir Joseph Ward, the Horn H. D. Bell, Sir James Carroll, Councillor John Smith, nnd other prominent citizens. These addresses are to bo interspersed by musical items contributed by lir. Maughun Burnett (selections on the organ), Mrs. W. F. Parsons, Miss N. Castle, Mr. Borrows, and Mr. Lunt (vocalists), an,d Mr. Laurence F. Watkins (accompanist). Light refreshments will be provided, aud an opportunity given for tho audience to move round and renew old acquaintances and to revive old memories. ' The committee has been to some pains to compile a list of people who should bo invited, but it is possible the names of eoino have been omitted. Those who have been inadvertently overlooked are requested to apply to the secretary (Mr. R. IC. Lyon) or to Mr. Len. M'Kenzie, Mri E. Arnold, or Mr. J. Castle. The committee also desire to thank all thoso who have so generously responded to their appeal for assistance towards making a sue cess of this, the first re-union.
