IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
NEW ZEALAND SUGGESTIONS APPROVED. By Teleirrapn—Press Aeaociation-Oonyriglit London, September 19. TJie newspaper "Globe" approves of the suggestion that New Zealand should bo represented on the Imperial Defence Committee, through its Minister for External Affairs! ' This would, the "Globo" thinks, bo an appreciable step towards the Federation of tho Empire. New Zealand's proposal may well solve one of the difficulties of the problem.
In the Houso of Eepresentatives on ■Wednesday Inst Mr. A. M. Myers asked the Prime Minister whether ho did not consider that the time had arrived for New Zenla)id...fß.fpJlo,w..the..lead.-of Cpnada and ask; that a member of'the New Zealand Cabinet should have a seat on the Imperial Defence Committee in London, and thus remain in constant personal touch with the Imperial Government. Mr. Massey replied: The matter referred to by tho honourable member will bo taken into the serious consideration of tho Government during tho recess, with a view to submitting proposals to the House when Parliament meets again.
