Wedding at St. Peter's. A quist wedding took placo at St. Peter's Church nt 3 p.m. .on Thursday, when Mr. D. D. Scott, of tho local branch of Kempthorne, ,Prosser and Co., Ltd., was married to Miss Elsie Ashbolt, youngest daughter of the late Alfred Ashbolt. Only tho immediate relatives of the bride and bridegroom were present. The service was conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon Harper. Tho bride,-who was given away by her brother, Mr. Frank Ashbolt, wore a tailored costume of sapphire bluo cloth and a charming hat or tagel straw, trimmed with blue lancer plumes and small roses. She carried an American shower bouquet, and wove ear-rings and brooch of aquamarines and pearls. Mr. J. D. Scott attended his brother as best man Tho bridegroom's present to the bride was a, diamond and turquoise, ring. The honeymoon is being spent in Australia. . . ' Wedding at Waipukurau. A pretty wedding took place at Waipukurau on Wednesday, when Mr. Altretl Okev, of New Plymouth, ton of Mr. Okey, MP' was married to Miss Ruby Scott, ot Waipukurau. Tho bride, who was given away by her brother, wore a gown of suk voile, trimmed with silk embroidery, mid veil and wreath of orange, blossome. - hue was attended by Miss Olive Scott, Miss Isa Irving (Napior), and two httlo girls (nieces of the bride), Grace- and Dons Scott. They wore becoming gowns ol croam radiants, and carried bouquets ol spring flowers. Mr. Ray Okey was tho best man. Tho church had been beautifully decorated for tho occasion by the members of the Senior Bible Class, and tho service was conducted by tho Hoy. W. M'Donald. Mrs. Young played tho Wedding March. After tho ceremony tho guests- were entertained at tho residence of Mr. R. Scott. Mr; and Mrs. Okey lelt later in the day for New Plymouth, the j>rido travelling in grey, trimmed with silk insertion and pink pipings, and a black hat with pink lancer plume.
Princess Patricia in America. A cablegram received in Melbourne from Winnipeg, states that tlio Duko of Connaught and party, who are making a tour of Canada, abandoned tho proposal to camp out on tho prairie, which was part or the programme arranged during the stay at Calgary. Mr; and Mrs. G. Cooper left Wellington yesterday by tho Manuka for Sydney. Mrs. W. to. Hurstliouse has arranged a tea which is to be held this afternoon in Bartlett's Buildings (Willis Street), for the beneat of the University Reform Association. During tho afternoon -cakes, sweets, etc., will-be sold, as funds aro needed for the association. The friends of Mrs. C. A. W. Monckton will regret to learn that she is ill with an attack of appendicitis. Our Otaki correspondent writes that a quiet wedding took placo at To Horo on Wednesday, when Miss SI. M. laylor, laughter of Mr. T. Taylor, was married to Mr. R. Hagan. Tho Rev T. F. Jones conducted the service. The bridesmaids were Miss Taylor and Miss Thomson. Mr. B. Collier was best man. . Mrs. Heaton, of "Ridgcside," Lowci Hutt, left for tho south on Tuesday evenin?. She is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Fowke, at Edendale, near Invercargill. Miss KttlMcen Millar left Wellington last evening for Riccarton. Mrs. Hardy, Waipukurau, is in town, and is staying at tho Grand Hotel.
Mr. H. E. Spcnce, Mrs., and the Misses Sponco (2) left by tho Manuka last evening for Sydney, where they join their eteaincr for England. >
