HAPPENINGS AT DUNEDIN. (By Tcleerapli-Prcss Association.) Dunedin, September 16. Tho troupe of Chinese gymnasts and acrobats- who finished a season at the King's Theatre on Saturday night, provided a good deal of sensation before their departure for Invereargill this morning. There has been something in the nature of a feud between one member a Cantonese) and the remainder, who are Pechilis, and apparently, a scheme was arranged, to attack tho former at the close of the performance. The suspicions of the attendants wore aroused, however, and the plot was frustrated. The Pechilis were closely watched on Sunday, aiid were unable to harm the Cantonese who was escorted all day by two attendants. The Pechilis had vowed that they would not leave this morning, but stern measures were resorted to, even to forcibly dressing them with the assistance- of a constable. On the way to the railwav station a hoy (a Pechili) ran away, but was soon captured and. on arrivaL'at the station it was discovered, that tho boy luul in his possession an open pen-knife, and though he was watched attentively, he tried to stab the Cantonese at whom lie rushed crying: "I stab you!" Ultimately thev were got away much to tho relief of all concerned.
