WORKERS' HOMES.
A SCHEME IN ACTIVE OPERATION. Tho annual report of the Superintendent of Workers' Dwellings was presented to the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. It states that the year ended March 31 was one of great activity. Fifty-nine houses wero in ooureo of erection during the year, though nono of them wero contemplated by the end of tho financial year. Of tho number 23 are at Auckland, 23 at Wellington, and 14 at Christchurch. '■ Arrangements are completed for the erection of about 21 more dwellings, of which, six will be at Palmerston North, nino at Tnnnni, and nine at Temulca. Tho land purchased, or set apart for workers" dwellings durnir tho year comprised ureas in 12 localities. The provisions .of tho 1910 Act, th« superintendent states, arc a groat improvement on those of the 1905 Act, and he has no recommendation to make foi amendment. The total number of dwell. in»s erected under the two Acts is IJO, from which .£3Oll were received in rent als and payments during the, past unan« cial year. - •
