The official estimate 6tatcs that tho area under wheat for the current season is 14,000 acres more than in the previous season. The smallness of tho increase compared with the -big.advances of ,the three previous seasons is due to the long drought at sowing time. The later rains greatly improved tho position, and the prospects of a good average yield are most encouraging. -' Though the total wheat area shows only the increase mentioned above, the area planted in grain is 67,572 acres aboyo that of last year.
