SIR GEORGE REID IN CANADA

Sir George Reid, High Commissioner for Australia, speaking at a luncheon at the Toronto Exhibition, conveyed a message of goodwill to Canada from Australia. Ho dwelt on Australia's great resources and progress. 'Referring to defence, lie described Australia's efforts as e noblo contribution to the Empire's safety and the world's peace, and advised Canada 'to act quickly, as at sea ono swift disaster might prove a weak link, destroying the. wholo chain of Empire defence. The speech was warmly cheered. Sir George Reid and Lady Reid were cordially welcomed by a great gathering of Canadians at a luncheon.
