MELBOURNE COLLISION.

IDENTITY OF THE VICTIMS. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrlaht Melbourne, September 5. Yesterday's collision between the Flemington show train and the Coburg train occurred at 5.10 o'clock. If the show train had stopped a few yards sooner the disaster would have been avoided, becauso the suburban train would thon have been able to cross in front. , If it had occurred a few seconds earlier or later, one engine would have crashed into the carriages of the other train, and then the loss of life would probably have been heavier. The show train engine was running tender first,, which, in the opinion of a railway expert, minimised the consequences, as the tender acted as a buffer. Mr. Wilson, one of the killed, was aged 72, and was a retired farmer, while Mr. MTlonald, the other, was a stock and jestate agent, aged 61. (Rec. September 6. O.W a'.m.) Melbourne, September 5. Many more names have been- added to the list of in the injured, but these are mostly minor cases, the sufferers having proceeded to their homes, without reporting their injuries at the time of the accident. It has been found necessary to amputate the leg of a man named Smith, one of the injured.
