Prico has lodged an appeal against his disqualification by the Canterbury Jockey Club, but, as yet,' ho has had no intimation as to whether tho appeal is in order, or when it will bo heard. . Wallace Young, who was injured at the last Napier meeting, has now quite recovered. Ho left Auckland for Sydney on Monday, and he will rido Reumac in his engagements at tho Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting. Somo doubt had been expressed as to whether Crown , Pearl would be a starter in tho Railway Handicap at Marton today, but this was dispelled by the horse arriving on tho scene. ■ Our special correspondent (telegraphing from Marton last evening) stated that the weather was threatening, but no rain had then fallen. If the threatened downpour kept off the track would, be in good condition for to-day's racing. Coolbeggnn, who figures in tTte Hack Welter Handicap at Marton to-day, is best known as Tripoli, under which namehe raced at several meetings last season. P. Meagher is now attached to J. Coylo's stables at Bulls, and will ride The. Native in tho Hack Welter event at Marton to-day. Serenity has been paid up for in both the maiden event and Hack Welter Handicap at Marton to-day, but it is generally understood that ho will start in the last-named event onty. Secretary H. Hayr, of the Avondale Jockey Club, has been seriously ill since tho Trentham meeting, but ho is now convalescent, and will be at his post for the spring meeting of his club, which takes place this month. After tho National meeting, P. Coffey took Compass homo to Hawera, and fired the Daystar gelding in his weak leg. Cof. fey's other horses—Darby Paul Ngatira«,nui—are in steady work st Wanganui, and will race thcro at Uio end of tho month.
The steeplechaser Antarcatic is now turned out on Mr. G. F. Moore's farm at Kai Iwi, and latest reports credit tho sou of Salvadan with making a sure recovery from his rheumatic ailment. The : annual meeting of members of theWellington Racing Club has been fixed for September 27. Mr. G. F. Moore has been asked in a number of instances to name a price for some of tho Signer- yearlings, but his reply in all cases has been that the youngsters must go to auction at Christchurch in New Zealand Cup week.
•The St. Leijer is to bo run at Doncaster England, this day week. Mountain King's half-sister, Ma Mie Eosette, leaves Bushy Park for Hastings to-day on. a visit to San Fran. King Lucro,\ who defeated the New Zealand horse Don' Quex in the hurdle race at Moorefield last Saturday, was also a winner at the Warwick Farm meeting tho previous week. Signor (Pilgrim's Progress-Ma Mie Eosette) is going to receive a splendid chance to distinguish himself at the stud as somo very high-class mares are to be mated with him, Studgroom J.
