COST OF FINDING MARKETS. Three returns were laid before the House of Representatives yesterday, in accordance with the recommendation of the Public Accounts Committee. Gott - , Trade Representative, Canada, additional abovo —Travelling allowance, .£272; rail and steamer toes, .£47; clerical assistance, .£24; postage and cables, etc., ■£14; other expenses, including rent sample Tooms, etc., .£104—.£462; total expenditure, .£647. A second return gives details of the total expenditure incurred by the Dominion in respect to trade representation and oversea, agencies, Department of Agriculture, Industries ana Commerce, for the year ended March 31, 1912. Trade Representative. One officer was.employed last year (on tho West of Isorth America). Tho total expenditure during the year was as follows:-Salary, £150; travelling allowance, JE272; rail and steamer fares, .£47; clerical assistance, .£24; postages, cables, etc., £M; subscriptions to newspapers, £5; other expenses, including rent of sample room?, X 104: total, X 917. Oversea Agencies. Agencies are established at Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Vancouver. Of these tho agencies at Melbourne and Sydney are conducted by officers of the Government.
