WOMAN'S DEATH-AN ARREST.
HUSBAND SUSPECTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dannevirke, August 31. Advice has been received by tho local police that a woman named Mrs. Peter Beck, residing at Norsewood, was found dead in bed this morning, under circumstances sufficient to justify the police in arresting the husband and charging him with having caused his wife's death. The husband is said to bo in a bad way from the effects of drink. A post-mortem examination has been ordered, and an inquest will be opened this afternoon. Deceased is the wife of Matthew Peter Bcck, a farmer who has resided in the district for a number of years. Ho Tound his wifo on tho floor of the bedroom early this morning. Ho informed his brother-in-law, Mulholland, of his discovery. Subsequently it was found that there were marks on tho toddy requiring an explanation. Tho husband was arrested on suspicion of causing his wife's death. Tho inquest will bo opened this afternoon, and will probably bo adjourned.
