THE EGMONT SEAT.
I Sir,—Will .you kindly permit me space in your valuable columns that I make public my opinion of tho Egmout seat. It will no doubt be a keenlycontested ballot, and will serve to prove which ffce olectors of Egmont prefer: the old methods of secrecy, the wasteful expenditure of public- money conducted undor Wardism; or the straightforward Progressive-Liberal principles under Masseyisin. It has long beon the general opinion that any partv opposed to Liberalism could only be' Conservatism; but latelv it has been clearly demonstrated that a Progressive-Liberal party like that of the present Reform Government can undoubtedly opposo a retrogressive Liberal, party like that of W(£rdism without possessing: tho slightest connection with Conservatism. Now that the electors of A'ew Zealand have discovered that Mr.'jlassey and his party (the supposed Conservatives) are the true ProftressiveLibcrata I have no doubt that the electors of Egmont will show their disapproval of any would-be Liberal candidates that appear to oppose our present Liberal Government. Trusting; tha electors of Egmont will fully realise tho importance of having Sir. Slassey ®nd his party at the head of our country s affairs; and that this warning, through your widely-read journal, will serve to help in tho return of Mr. Wilkinson for that district. Thanking you for your trouble.—l am, STRATFORD. Greytown, August 21. ,
