CADET SHOOTING.
THE ROBERTS IMPERIAL TROPHY. After four days' hard training at Trcntham tho .New Zealand cadet rifle team fired off in the Earl-Roberts's Imperml Trophy Match, under very trying conditions, at Trentham - yesterday. The match is a very difficult one, -all the shooting being under service ru w.. ibo usual tricky'' Trentham < wind played havoc with tho boys nnd marred their success. There were three stages in the match; seven shots'at 200 yards, 3sec. exposure; five shots at 500 yards, exposure; and an advance m attack bring match from 500 to 200 yards. Matlieson (Wellington College Cadets) supervised tho training of the lads during the fonr days' previous practice, a period, considered to have b«en all too short as a preparation for the conditions of a service match. The match was fired under the supervision of Major J. G. Hughes, D.5.0., of the General Staff at Headquarters, who oppressed the opinion that the boys tferi very plucky to attempt tho match - under such conditions. After tho match the team was photographed, . and several "snaps" were taken of the correct positions in snap-shooting. The boys will return to town to-day.
