COURT OF APPEAL.

Mr. Justice Edwards and Mr. Justice Sim were on the bench in the Court <f Appeal yesterday, and liad to deal with motions for leave to appeal to the Privy Council. Final leave was granted in the cases of the Taupo Totara Timber Company v. the Commissioner of Taxes, and the Kauri Timber Company v. the Commissioner of Taxes. Mr. G. Samuel moved for leave in both cases. Provisional leave to appeal to tho Privy Council was granted in tho case of Clayton v. Chambers, Mr, A. K. Meek making the application. Mr. Justice Edwards intimated that no' decisions would l>e delivered until the next sittings of the Court of Appeal, commencing on Septe nber 30. The Court required the case of Beetharri and Elgar v. Holm-.v, to lie re-argued, and it was nccessary that counsel sho.ild be prepared to go on at the opening of the' next sittings in order that' Mr. Justice Sim, who previously sat on the case, would be able to sit again.
