LAND BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wellington District Land Board was continued yesterday morning, Mr. T. N. Brodrick, Commissioner, presiding. J. A. Grant applied to transfer to Wm. A. Petersen, Section. !). Block XIII, Huangarua. Matters arising out of a mortgage transaction were taken in committee. On resuming in open board; Mr. Holmdcn, solicitor, representing the transferor, and Mr. D. Cooper, representing Messrs. Abraham and Williams, appeared before the board, and asked that the purchase money, over and above the amount duo on- the first mortgage (including interest) be paid over to Mr. W. E. Beard, solicitor,'- of Masterton, to be held by him in trust for three months pending a settlement by litigation. After further consultation, Mr. Hohuden having undertaken with Mr.-Cooper to lodge the money with Mr. Beard on trust as per arrangement, the transfer was approved. A. K. Gillespie to A. E. Arnott, 1485 acres, Section 2 Block I, Waipakura.—lt was resolved to approve, subject to the exchange for the other property being completed simultaneously. Referring to the board's resolution of April 25, 1012, with reference to the disposal of the. Piripiri' Block, .the Commissioner reported that the caveats lodged against the title have now been removed. It, was resolved to'rescind that part of ■the resolution re offering Section 28, Block X, Umutoi, for selection, subject to the right of.'the Crown to grant a milling license over it and to approve of this section being withheld from sale until the milling timber is removed. With regard to Messrs. Foot .and Roberts, and Vincent and Olerhardt's application for the timber. it was Ttsolved to approve of the timber being let to. Messrs. It was resolved that on . receipt of a formal duplication accompanied by the re-' quired declaration from W. K. Morton (or his eligible nominee) stating the tenure on< which he wished to select about 187} acres of Section 1. Block Y, Manngakaretu, the board would recommend the Government to approve the application under Section 129 of the Land Act, 1908. The price for this nrea to be fixed at tho same. rato as that paid for it by thf Land Purchase Department. Mr. Ellingham referred to the renewal of the lease of Section 2, Block VII, Mangahao. The board discussed the nuestion of allowing stumping to count as lessee's improvement, and also whether allowance should b? made for land eroded by the 'Mangatainoka River.
