WHAT MEN TO DRIVE MOTORS?
« CASE OP A DEAF DRIVER. (By Teksraph.—Presi Aisooiatlon.) Auckland, August 27. "Every person who drives a motor-car should have a certificate of proficiency," says the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout). The question cropped up during the hearing of a case where a tram-car ran into a motor-car driven by a man who was deaf. The motorman rang his gong repeatedly, and then ran up to the motor-car, to warn the driver to get off the tram rails. The rails, however, were greasy, and, in tho subsequent impact, the motor-car was much crumpled. His Honour, in giving judgment this morning, dwelt on the necessity of every driver of a motor-car being proficient, and ho also gave it as his opinion (hat, if a man wero hard ot hearing, ho should have on the car somo sort of mirror attachment which would enable him to see any vehicle coming up behind him.
