BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
« CANON GARLAND'S VISIT TO CHRISTCHUECH. Tho Rev. Canon and Mrs. Garland returned to Wellington yesterday, alter a week's visit to Christchurch. Canon Garland reports that a meeting of tho Provisional Executive of the Bible-in-Stato Schools League was held.under tho presidency of the Primate, supported by tho Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand; and as a result a permanent executive was elected, with representatives of all churches concerned, and from all tho various centres of the Dominion. A constitution was agreed upon, and a Women's.Lcague. also formed, as auxiliary to'the'main'league." Enthusiastic meetings were held of women in St. John' 3 Church, and of sympathisers generally in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, which, was presided over by the Rev. Thomas Tait. Canon Garland also preached in St. Luke's Church and tho Cathedral: but his address in the Durham Street Methodist Church was abandoned, as a mark of sympathy with the Salvation Amy, which was holding a memorial service for General Booth at the eamo hour.
