Gisborne, August 25. At the inquest touching the death of Maud Bissell (nine years of age), who was killed by. Mng run over by the wheel of a cart at Matawhero yesterday, the uorouci- returned a verdict that lierea-sed accidentally fell from the wagon to the ground, and the wheel inflicted injuries from, which she died in about hall' an hour. . "I would like to say this," added the coroner, "that it is a very common practice ror children to jump into carts and wagons atong the road, the drivers very good-naturedly permitting ihem to do so without any anticipation of danger. There is no doubt it is a dangerous practice, as the result in this caso has shown, and it should be discouraged in future. I don't say, in this case, that the wagoner is to be blamed. He allowed the children to 'get into his wagon with the intention of pleasing ihem, and giving tliem a ride to school. He is not to be blamed at-all in tho matter, but Ido think it. is a practice that should be discouraged." CAVERSHAM. FIRE. Dunedin, August'2s. A two-story house in Caversham, owned by Thomas E.
