BY-ELECTION IN WALES, By Telesruph—Press Association—Copyriclit London, August 23. The election for the East Carmarthenshire seat in the House of Commons, rendered vacant by the death of Mr. Thomas (Liberal), resulted:— Mr. Jones (Liberal) 6083 Mr. Mervyn Peel (Unionist) 3351 Dr. Wiljiams (Labour) 1089 The late Mr. Thomas had held the seat sinco 1890. At tho last general election tho voting was: Mr. Thomas (Liberal), 5825; Mr. Peel (Unionist), 2315; Dr. Williams (Labour), 1170, THE LABOUR-LIBERAL SPLIT. . London, August 23. Mr. Keir Hardie, Labour M.P. for Merthyr-Tydvil, in an articlo in tho "Pioneer," published at Merthyr, says it will be almost a miracle if tho Government can be kept together for two moro years.
