Tho ratepayers of tho Gonville-Castlo-cliff tramway district havo approved of the board's proposal to raise an additional Joan of ,£3500 to comploto tho system. Tho voting for tho proposal was 130, while only sovon votes were cast against it. In general, there- was <=o little opposition to the loan that a large number of ratepayers did not trouble to voto at all. A branch of tho Girls' Peace Scouts is ■to be formed here, the promoter being Mrs. Chas. Izard, of Wellington,'who' has lately been on a visit to Wanganui, where she .succeeded in interesting a number of people in' tho matter.
