POSITION TO BE REVIEWED. Free railway passes for the secretaries of leading agricultural and pastoral associations wero asked for by a deputation from , the Jlanawatu A.,and P.. Association which was introduced (o the Minister for Railways yesterday by Mr, D. Buick, M.P. It was stated that there wero only about eix or nine of these officials in tho whole of the Dominion, and it was urged that it would bo in the general interest that secretaries should .bo allowed to travel free on the business of their associations, so that stock to attend the eliows might be procured from all parts of tho Dominion, _ Tho Minister, in replying, said that ho intended to go.into the whole question of free passes as soon as ho Lad time. Ho did not quito know on what principle some passes were granted and others refused. Edμcation, hospital, and other authorities were asking for free passes for the officers of their Departments, and it ■was necessary to arrive at some uniform system of issuing passes. If ho granted the present request race clubs might ask for passes for their secretaries, and labour bodies might do tho same. TlJe whole thing would have to be dealt with in a comprehensive way.
