THE LATE MR. T- G- MACARTHY.
EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY. Mrs. T. G. Macarthy lias received numerous letters and telegrams of condolence from all parts of New Zenlaml an the death of her husband. Among these are expressions of sympathy from her Excellency Lady Islington, Sir Joseph Ward, Sir Arthur and Lady, Guinness, Sir Arthur and Lady Gibbes, Sir John and Ladv Findlay, Mr. C. P. Skerrctt, K.C., and" Miss fekerrett, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Myors, Hou. A. L. and Mrs. Herdmaii, Mr. and Sirs. Leonard Tripp, tho directors of the Northern Holler Milling Co., Wellington Opera House Co., Mr. Macarthy's employees and tenants, the West Coasters' Association, the conductor and members of St. Mary of the Angels' Choir, the members of St. Paul de Vincent Society and Sewing Guild, and the members of the. medical and legal profession and clergy of all denominations throughout New Zealand, besides 'others from Australia and England. The bequests and annuities left by the deceased gentleman arc free of death duties. Tho amount of probate, and succession duty on tho estate will bo considerable. Apart froni that share or portion of the estate set asido for the endowment of charitablo or educational institutions, 15 por cent, estate, duty, and 10 per cent, succession duty will bo claimable. Bequests by will to charitable or educational institutions are subsidised by the Government at tho ratio of 10s, in the «£1 up to ,£SOO only. Tho name of Mr. ChaTles Plimmor, one of the chief mourners, wns inadvertently omitted from yesterday's list.
