DOCTOR SUGGESTS PTOMAIKES.
Yesterday afternoon an inquest was opened by Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., concerning the death of Mary Ann Norman and Edward Marshall, wnoso bodies were found in-house No.. 18 Walter Street at 8.30 on Monday evening by William Walter Crump, a son-in-law of the deceased ZTT'n, bCn r r " SCTgcont Pledge represented the police. Dr. Fyffe gave evidence to tho effect that he liad conducted a post-mortem, lie had not found any marks of external violence. Tho ' woman had apparently- boon dead longer than tho man. J.JIO evidence as to tho oause of • j1 s, " nless poison were found, pointed to somo form of ptomaine poisoning. Witness went on to say that it had ocourred to him that the deaths might havo been caused by an escape of gas, but ho did not consider that such a sunposition formed tho real oause. The gas in tho house had been turned off ! As the analyst's report was not available, the inquiry was adjourned till 2 15 p.m. on next Wednesday.
