i , 9 INQUIRY INTO A MINISTER'S ACTIONS. By TelecraDh—Press Association—Coriyrfeht (Rec. August 19, 11.20 p.m.) Sydney, August 19. A Royal Commission has been appointed as' the result of speeches by Messrs. Parkes and , Henley in the Legislative Assembly, to inquire whether the Minister 1 for Works lias been guilty of corrupt practices in connection with certain public works. Mr. Henley's counsel asked for the enlargement of'the commission's order of reference to admit of tho question whether the Minister was guilty, of maladministration. . The commissioner said he would limit tho inquiry to charges of corrupt practices. Ho had nothing to do with questions of administration. Counsel thereupon intimated that he would tender no evidence if the inquiry was limited to the question of corrupt practices. Mr. Parkes wrote stating that he was willing to appear when called.
