ANNUAL MEETING.' . . During the .course of the annual meeting of the Canterbury Sheepownors' Industrial Union of Employers, Mr. D. D. Maofarkne said he would'like to make reference to the important and valuable work done by the Freight Reduction Committee originated in ■ Wellington 'sixteen years ago. In that time.freights to the amount of J!2,100,fl00 had been saved'to the wool growers of New Zealand without injuring other shipping companies. It had been found necessarv to form the shipping business run by Mr. Scales, who was an-original worker with the committee, into a company, arid it was a matter for the earnest-consideration of 'sheepowners whether or no they would sup••".rt the proposed company, which it wa-> intended should be owned by farmers solely,, .and if it could be got going the-j wpuld 'be able to control' the .rate of freights not only for wool'but" for frozen mutton-.',""'" : ■■■•:. wr-y. .
