STRIKE SAGGING.
KAITANGATA MEN "GOING BACK."(By Telcrraph.—Press Association,) Duncdin, August IG. Mr. J. Howard, a member of the executive of the Federation of Labour, address-' ed a meeting of strikers, at Kaitangata, to-day. About « men wero present. At tho conclusion of tho address, a deputation from tho men wailed on Messrs. Lee (manager of tho company) and Carson (raino manager), and asked if the strikers would bo allowed to go back to work in a body. This request was refused, tho men being informed that they would have to make individual applications. The men then asked for a list of thoso whom tho company did not intend to employ ogain, and this .also was refused. 7 rho centlcmoii interviewed deny that they had any intention of.refusing employment to anv man who applied m the ordinary ivav On Thursday nino Btrikers joinedthe Arbitration Union, and they started, work to-day. Twelve men also signed on under these conditions to-day, and will start work to-morrow. There aro about 100 men still on strike.
