A Napier Wedding. On Tuesday afternoon, in the Napier Cathedra], the marriage took place if Miss Beatrice Margoliouth, third daughter of Mrs. Margoliouth, of Milton Terrace, Napier, aid Mr. George Henry Yeates of Wanganui. The service was oonducted by the Rev. Canon Mayne, and Mr. Horace G. Weber played the organ. The bride wore a gown of white embroidered muslin, with a veil caught in _with clusters of orange blossoms/and canted a shower bouquet of white flowers. Her cousin. Miss Pearl Hamilton (Wellington) attended her as bridesmaid, and wore a frock of pale mauve voile with lint to match. Mr. Roper, of Wanganui, was the best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Hansard (the latter being tho bride's sister), and later in the day Mr. and Mrs. Yeates left by train, the bride wearing a green tweed costume and becoming,hat to match. Our Feilding correspondent writes that as Lady Islington was being motored to "Highden" (Awahurl), three miles fiom Feilding, a large white car, driven from Palmerston was met,'at the junction of the Rancitikei Line/down which it had come. Tho chauffeur of the vice-regal car tried to cross at the back of the white car, and was on the right side of the road. "G" Company's Dance, Johnsonville. The men nf "G" Company, Fifth Regiment,'hold their animal ball in the Parish i Hall, Johnsonville, on Wednesday evening. The room in which dancing took ' place was beautifully decorated with, flags i and ferns, sprays of roses being twined about the windows. White lattice work, ' covered with green creepers and red and ( wbito sweet peas, gave a verv decorative effect to the .stage. Among thoso present were:—Mrs. Hall, wearing green satin, with silver trimmings; Mrs. Findlay Bctlnmc, handsome black froek, with jet embroideries; Mrs. Alf. Moore, black silk and handsome embroidery; Mrs. Hector Atkins, pale blueninon; Mr.s. Fox, pale pink silk, with silver trimmings; Mrs. Warreii Hicks, white 'silk, with niuou overdress, and fringe; Miss Bentlcy, cream eolienne and silver fringe; .Mrs. Wills, cream nuns' veiling, with gold embroidery; Miss O'Conncll, black velvet; Miss Beech, cream silk and sequined timming; Miss Stewart, cream froek and crystal beading. Great credit is due to tho committee for the splendid manner in which the supper was arranged. Colour-Sergeant Morgan acted as M.C., whilst Private H. Angel was secretary. Johnsonville Rifles Ball. G. Company sth Regiment (late Johnsonville Rifles) held their annual ball in the local parish hall last night. The building was crowded, and the function was the best and brightest yet held. Tho decorations were most effective. Lieutenant Dunbar Sloano had converted tho stage into a fairy-like bower, with artisti-cally-arranged trellis-work and festoons of twining vines, apple, peach, and cherry blossoms and garlands of roses illuminated with handsome coloured lanterns. Ferns, flags, and wreaths of flowers were used to adorn tho walls and ceiling ,of the dancing hall. Supper was provided in a marquee adjoining the main entrance, and an efficient orchestra supplied first-class music. The floor shone like a mirror, and the general scene was charming and brilliant. The officers present wore: Major Bctkuen, Captaius G. T. Hall and F. T. Moore, Lieutenants Sloane and Aekins. Sergeant-Major Beale represented the Permanent Staff,' and Regimental Sergeant-Major Bould the/ Battalion. The company's champion belt was worn by Sergeaut Washington, last year's champion shot. ■ Colour-Ser-geant Morgan was master of ceremonies. Feilding Notes. The Bridge- Club met at Mrs. Leslie Gorton's last week. Among the players were Mcsdames Gillespie, M'Caltum, Glasgow, Roberts, Atkinson, Clayton, Halliday, M'Pherson, Hall, C'arr, Misses Spain and Ferguson. Thcro was a very fair attendance at golf on Saturday, in spite of the disagreeable weather. Misses Kirton and o'Hfl.lloran provided afternoon tea. Among the players were Misses Moore, Sandilands, Haybittle, Wyatt, Kirton, 'Burrell, O'Ha'tloran, and others. Miss Sandilands has gone to Wauganui. Mrs. Innes-Jones has returned from Masterton. Mrs. Giesen is staying in Palmerston. Mrs. Wilson is visiting friends in the south. Madamo Emily Briggs had a most successful concert in the Parish Hall on Monday. Among tho audience were Mesdames Gillespie, Richmond, Baddelev, Walker, Hoiflt,' Roberts, Stewart, Sandilands, Grut, Hill, Halliday, White, Jones, Misses Moore, O'Halloran, Innes-Joiies, Long, Wyatt, Kirton, Brewer, Spain, Ferguson Hill and many others. The Women's Social and Political League are giving a farewell tea for Mrs. T. Mackenzie at tho Hotel Windsor next Thursday afternoon. Among the New Zealanders present at the State ball held at Buckingham Palaco last month, says the "British Australasian," were: Mr. and Mrs. G. Rhodes, Sir James and Lady Mills, and Miss Gernldine Mills, Mr, and Mrs. Percy Clvirnside, Mr. and Mrs. Moss-Davis, andMiss Blanche Moss-Davis. Mrs. Holroyd Bcere and Miss Estelle Beere, who have been on an extended tour of tho United States, arrived by tho Main Trunk from Auckland, and aro staying at "Balmoral," Mulgrave Street. Miss Beere took the opportunity of visiting the many schools of dancing, and also studied interpretative and dramatic dancing and' the simple folk-dances as now taught in the schools and playgrounds of America. Sir Robert Lockhart and Lady Lockhart. aro ,due in Wellington from Auckland this week. Savs our Feilding correspondent:-Dur-ing the course of his remarks last evening, tho Rev. G. Budd, who presided at tho annual meeting of St. Paul's Church, said that, in seven years, he had celebrated 142 marriages in and around Feilding, and 121 baptisms. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Thompson returned to Wellington yesterday by the Manuka from a two months' visit to RJirotonga and Sydney. Miss Winnie Thompson remains at Rarotouga. Mrs. Tringhnm, Pigeon Bush, is spending a few days in Wellington. Miss Diddams, Greytown, is visiting Wellington. Miss Monckton, Featherston, is in town, and is staying at the Empire. MRS.
