OBITUARY.

ME. JOHN C. M'KERROW. The death occurred late on Monday uiglit of Mr. John Craig M'Kenw, one of Wellington's best-known citizens, and particularly popular, in bowling circles in New Zealand lor over a quarter of a century past, The deceased, who was seventy years of age, passed away at liis residence in Tinakori Road. For eight months past his health had been failing,, owing chiefly to a heart affection, and tor somo timo past he had been confined to his bed., He was one of the founders of the Thorndou Bowling Club, of which ho had been president, and its delegate; on the council of tho Northern Bowling Association. For many years ho was a prominent member -of St. Andrew's Church, and lor some years held the position of elder.

Mr. M'Kerrow was born at Cumnock,. Ayrshire, Scotland, and was brought up as a farmer there. In 1874 ho arrived in New Zealand, and engaged in pastoral pursuits near Timaru. Ho became the owner of the Clarcmont Station, in that district._ About twenty years ago he camo to Wellington, and established himself hero as a land and estato agent, As a land valuer ho was frequently employed by tho Seddon Government, and was engaged on 0110 occasion to examino tho claims of old soldiers for recognition of their services to the country 'in tho field. Mr, M'Kerrow leaves a widow, 0110 son, and a daughter (Mrs. Burnes, wife of Mr. E. L. Burnes, of tho Colonial Mutual Assurance Society, Melbourne).
