s • THE SYSTEM OF MARKING. r ■ • r ■ . ■■ —— ' The secretary of the New Zealand Far- " mors' Union (Mr. E. C, Jack) has written to. the Chamber oik Commerce stating that tho various Provincial Executives have generally approved the suggestion made through the manufacturers that grain sacks should be marked in the following • manner:—4B x 261, three blue stripes as at present; 46 x 2GJ' (2|lb.), three green '•' stripes; 4G x 241, three red stripes as at present; 46 x 26.V (231b.), one, blue, on© "■ rod, and one bine stripe. Tho Advisory Committee of the union has received another suggestion which it is thought would be more simple nioro easily, distinguishable, viz.: To mark tho sacks with one, two, three, and four stripes according to size, and has asked " the Chamber of Commerce to communicate with the importers asking them to urgo the manufacturers to adopt a uniform system of distinct marks in regard to all future orders.
