SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.
The committee of the Sunday School Union met in the manager's room of St. John's Church on Wednesday evening, Mr. B. A. Wright, president, being in the chair. Tho Tory Street Mission School was elected as member _of the union, making the-number of auiliate'd schools 88. 'it was reported that 470 scholars liad sat for the Scripture examination. Arrangements wefe made for the distribution of tho prizes as soon as possible after the results are to hand from the examiners. Letters wcro read from a number of churches, agreeing to take up a retiring collection for the 'union's funds. In some cases tho schools havo sent donations, as the tiine. is inopportune for an appeal to their church members. The sub-committee appointed to arrange • for the lectures to bo given by Mr. Archibald reported that everything pointed to a successful coinpaign. The trustees of Wesley Church have kindly granted tho use of their buildings fex an the meetings. >It had been arranged to secure about 60 young children aud 20 young teachers to give a demonstration, under Miss Archibald and Miss Blackhouse, the kindergarten experts, who are with Mr. Archibald. The secretary reported that he had received communications from all parts of Australia, stating that in nearly every instance tho halls engaged had been found too small. Largo numbers of State school teachers had availed themselves of tho opportunity of teeing tho work of these'exponents of the latest American ideas in • teaching the young children.'
