MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortniprMly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening. The following were present:—The Mayor (Mr. M'Leod), Councillors Bell, Telfo'rd, Smith. Stone, and Gregg. A letter was rend from the Wellington Town Council acknowledging the receipt of the council's letters re the proposed alterations in the city tramway sections as affecting Miramar. The Town Clerk stated that the- matter would bo considered by the City Council at uext meetin?. The Commissioner of Police wrote in reply to n letter from the council asking that a police constable should be stationed in their district. The Hon. Minister for Justice' has arranged to station an additional constablo at Kilbirriic. A letter was read from the Minister for Defence regretting that just at present the Department cannot fall in with the council's tree-planting scheme on the Defence reserve, as all available* funds are required for the. Territorial system. Later something may bo done os suggested The Mayor drew attention to the fart that a shipment of 2500 tons of coal would arrive at the Miramar Wharf for the Gns Company. It would be taken to the works by the recentty-orreted railway. This will be the. first time that the railway mis been used.
