CABINET BUSY.
WHAT MINISTERS ARE DOING.
Cabinot sat yesterday for two hours and a lialf, and transacted a considerable amount of business, but the Priino Ministor stated, whoa he was interviewed during tho evening, that tho business hod lwen almost wholly of a routine nature. Siuco they took oflieo, Ministers havo lx*n largely employed in working off Departmental arrears, but. Mr. Massey informed a reportoop that good progress had been made, and that another sitting of about an hour and a half would probably brills the business of Cabinet up to date, so far as Departmental affairs .were concerned. It. is no secret that the members of the now Cabinet hopo , to be less involved in petty Departmental affairs than somo of their predecessors have boen. It is probable that tho next meeting, of Cabinet will bo held on Tuesday, lho Prime Minister mentioned that the appointment of a Higli Commissioner would be one of tho first matters dealt with. Several large policy questions, and others of an equally important nature, await atteution. During tho past week Ministers hoyo been busy preparing tho Estimates of their respective Departments, and a number of Bills arc also in «mrso of preparation.
