TREASURER'S REPORT. The lion, treasurer of the Mnnawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association (Mr. J. M. Johnston), in his annual report presented at the animal meeting, stated that, under the'now secretary and the complete reorganisation that has taken place, ho is more than convinced that the association can anticipate far greater develop-' ment in its sphere of usefulness than lias appeared possible for some time past. Although a largo amount of work in the direction of reconstruction has been accomplished, there yet remains a largo amount to be done' before the nssoc-intio.ii •is placed the satisfactory basis that members anticipate. Tn the consideration' of the balancesheet, said-Mr. Johnston, it must be remembered that it only covers a portion of the -period of reorganisation as from August of last year and the winter show of 1911, therefore, is not included under this heading, ■ Since Mr. Penny tcok charge, the old system of keeping Hie accounts has been discarded, and an entirely new set of hooks opened. > The total receipts for the. year iren ,£'")l7!>, as .against 4!,5248 last year, a decrease of .£(!!), this being accounted for owing to the winter show of lfllt only givinj a profit of M 7, but last spring show, as compared with Iflll, gives an increased profit of .E.lfl.i, mode up as follows:— ,£11:1 increased receipts ivid .Wi decreased expenditure, making a total profit of JSSJj for this fixture, as against £Ha in-191fl. ~ The association had, therefore, the largest profit shown for many years. The total expenditure this year was 4:5010. as against jyB4S last year. Included in flu's amount are the following items.:—.£l39 for "show and other expenses previous years," which should have I.tmi paid, but were omitted, also depreciation, an increase of .£3O, and cost of change of secretary. .£22 6s. 3d., with cue month's salary. £2h. To make the matter clear, the following is th'» total summary:—Receipts. ,£5179 16s. ad,; expenditure, J-'SOID 55.; balance, net profit, 4113!) lis. sd. Add to this:—Show and other expenditure previous years, 43138 15s. 6d.; increased depreciation, .C;; 0 Is.; expanses, ehang? of secretary, 4222 Gs. 3d.; extra salary, .£25; making a total profit of 42355 1-ts. 2d., as compared with 42303 in 1911. This leaves the largest profit the association has had for some years past. Mr. Johnston gives n warning note to members that, although the. -profit is improved, it is still under the total amount of special donations, and every effort must be .made to get back to the position when the association made a substantial profit apart froni the donations. In this consideration, the treasurer • specially thanks the donors for their very generous treatment, vtlie total donations this year being upwards of 42G00, the largest since 190 G.
