TRACKED DOWN.
AN AUCKLAND BURGLARY. (Br Telegraph.—Press- Association.) Auckland,. July 9. Practically the first of, the serios. of burglaries with, which Auckland has this year been visited was that committed in Newton on January 1, when the tailor's shop of William Henry Flyger, in Karangahape Road, was entered, and four suits of clothes and a couplo of pairs of trousers wero taken. Inquiry was started on the subject immediately, but it was not until yesterday that the burglar was tracked down in the person of Robert John Davies, a married matt, 27 years of ago. Danes is a tailor by trade, and had worked for Mr. Flyger, though not employed by him at the time of the burglary. He consequently know the run of the premises, ana by breaking, a pano of glass at tho rear, window was able to gain entranco and make away with a new suit for nearly every day in the week. When charged at. the Polico Court this morning with tho offenfie, Davios entered a plea of guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentenoe. A sidelight was thrown on liis domestic life a little later in tho proceedings, when he was charged ojn; tho information of his wife, with having failod to adequately provide for the maintenance of has girl child. The-wifo did not come forward to press the charge, and, in view of accused's inability under present circumstances to do anything for his family, tho case was struck out.
