Mr, Neave, who appeared for Rate Eggers, went into' commercial transactions between plaintiff and defendant*a husband, 'and contended that, when Kate Eggers had visited plaintiff at his office, she had merely gone to see him'as the agent of her husband, and that the plaintiff knew that she was her husband's agent. This the,complainant denied. The Magistrate, after taking evidence, ,-oi'used plaintiff's application. Mr. Barton appeared for the complainant. OTHER CASES. May Oibbons, oharged with" assaulting Mary Bond .-on?; June 28,vwasl/ remanded for one weekEmma Crawford was fined 10s. on a charge of theft of shirts, the property of Alexander Veitch .and othors, and was made the subject of a prohibition order. Mr. A. Salok appeared for accused. For breach of a prohibition order, Jane Veiteh was fined 205., in default three days' imprisonment. A first-offending inebriate was fined 10s. For affixing a poster to a building in Stout Street, Frank Bradley was fined ss. and 9s. costs., Henry E. Manning was ordered to pay costs amounting to 20s. for riding a motor cycle without a light in Manners Street, and failing to 6top when ordered to do so. John James Adams, a blacksmith, residing at No. 63 Taranaki Street, was charged with keeping a common gaming house. Accused, who had been arrested by Detective-Sergeant • Cassells shortly after 2 p.m..yesterday, pleaded not guilty. He was remanded till Wednesday next. .Bail was allowed' to the amount of iSO.
