GOLD-MINING SHARES CASE. In tho Supremo Court in Chambers yesterday, Mr. Justice Cooper hoard applications by Richard Cock, New Plymouth, and Emma Childs to have their names removed from the list of shareholders of the Kin« Gold-mining Company. The applications were of similar nature, and wore taken together. ♦ Mr.' C. H. Treadwcll appeared for Richard Cock, Mr. Slnddon for Emma Childs, and Mr. 0. Beere for tho company. Tho caso hinged npon tho section in the Companies Act relating to mining companies, and providing that, in tho oventof any call remaining unpaid after it becarao due, the share should thereupon become absolutely forfeited without any resolution of tho directors.

In raising opposition to the application Mr. Beere snid tho decision of tho Court in this caso was of considerable importance to the creditors, for upon it deponded whether or not tho company wonld ho able to pay its debts. Legal argument occupied some considerablo time, after which liis Honour reserved decision, remarking that the cose wasono of very great importance.
