CANADA AND THE NAVY.

Mr. Borden, Prime Minister of Canada, who has arrived to discuss naval matters with tho AdmirnJty, received great ovations at Bristol and on his arrival at Pnddington. In an interviow he said he stood for a great Navy. Tho discussions will include tho subjects of improved communications and closer trade ties. (Rcc. July 5, 10.5 p.m.) London, July 5. Mr. Borden is reticent on tho naval question, and refuses to confirm the. speculations of tho Toronto correspondent of "Tho Times" as to Canada's intentions. LORD KITCHENER SAILS. Cairo, July E. Lord Kitchener has sailed for England, to.attend an important meeting of the Committee of Imperial Defence preliminary to tho discussion with the members of tho Canadian Cabinet. PACIFIC NAVAL FORCES. Vancouver, July i. A representative party of British manufacturers now touring Canada, favours the construction of a Canadian fleet winch would be available for use in the Pacific, thus leaving the China squadron for duty elsewhere. Australia's action was held up in admiration as a lesson for Canada.
