TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILWAY
WORK SUSPENDED. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyrlehl Melbourne, June 18. Work on the transcontinental railway to West Australia has been suspended. The Commonwealth Government claims not only all the land required for the railway, but also all the catchment areas. South Australia insists that no water catchments shall be given unless the State Railway Engineer certifies that they are reasonably required for transcontinental railway purposes.
