A ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOP. 8.7 Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright. (Rcc. May 25, 9.10 p.m.) Melbourne, May 29. The death is announced of tho Right Rev. James Francis Corbett, Roman Catholic Bishop of Sale, who succumbed after an operation. Tho Into Dr. Corbett was born at Limerick. He studied in France, and after joining the priesthood, acted as a missionary in his native diocese. Later ho came out to Australia and was for some years secretary to tho late Dr. Goold, Archbishop of Melbourne, Ho was also pastor of the pnrochial district of St. Kihla. In 1887 ho was consecrated first Bishop of Sale. A WELL-KNOWN SHIPMASTER. (Rcc. May 29, 11.30 p.m.) Sydney, May 29. Advice has been received of the death of Captaiin Hay Ward, formerly commander of Iho steamers Mariposa and Ventura in Hie San Francisco service.
