MANAWATU A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
MONTHLY MEETING. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, May 21. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association was held to-day. The piesident, Mr. M. A. Conway wa.s in the chair. Correspondence was read from the Defence Department applying for the exclusive use of the grounds from June < to 15, for tho purposes of holding a camp of instruction. The application was (.'ranted. Mr. W. T. Williams, of Hawke's. Bay, wrote promising a donation of ten guineas, and suggesting that it be awarded for the champion bull or cow. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Williams for his donation.
, Messrs. Mason, Struthers and Co. wrote stating that they had received the Alfa Cup from their principals, but it was to bo donated for tho best milk cow in New Zealand. : Tho Department of Trade ;<nd Customs wrote stating that the duty could not be remitted on medals imported by the association. Mr. R. S. Abraham, in a letter, suggested placing tho namo of Mr. F. Reynolds, of New South Wales, or, failing that, of his son, Mr. Darcy Reynolds, cn tho judges' list. It was resolved that 'Messrs. Reynolds be asked to act as judges. The Presbyterian Youth of tho Church Committee was granted the use of two large sheds, tho lecture room, committeo room, dining room, and kitchen for tho purpose of holding a conference and camp from December 27 to 30 inclusive. . Iu response to a communication from tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce, forwarding resolutions with reference to the question of improving tho WellingtonPalmerston North . railway service, and asking tho association to co-operate m sending a deputation to the Minister for Railways, Messrs. Hodder and Harkness were appointed to act. Tho Ram Fair Committee reported having met a committee at heilding m conference, and having decided to hold the ram fair alternately in Palmerston North and Feilding. Messrs. M'Hardy, Lancaster, aJid F. S. M'lfae were appointed a committeo with power to act in the matter. 1 ' ~ , It was decided to enlarge the oval eo that two full-sized football grounds and a quarter-mile cycle track can bo obtained. ■ It was resolved that Messrs. \V. J.. P 6lmv , J. M. Johnston, T. R. Hodder,_ S. R. Lancaster, R. M. M'Knight, !!. Gillies, -Major Dunk, D. P-ringle, and R. S. Abraham bo appointed a deputation to wait cn .the Minister for Railways in reference to tho question of getting -special stock train* -at snow time, and more pavticujarh in connection v/itb shows m tho Auckland district.
