Prior to the surrender of' the liliodc9 Island garrison, numbering ISOO, tho Italians landed two columns, and at night time these co-operated with a. third, surprising and driving tho Turks, after a sharp fight, into ravines, their only retreat therefrom being commanded by tho guns of the warships. Eighty-three Turks were killed and twenty-six wounded; four Italians were killed and twenty wounded. Guesso Ameglio telegraphs that all tho Turkish troops on the.island have been made prisoners, and adds that the officers have been allowed to Tetain their swords, in recognition of their gallant conduct.
