GARRISON OFFICERS' CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT, 'I'ho annual general meeting of the Wellington Garrison Officers' Club will be held at the Garrison Hall on 'Wednesday evening next. According to the report of flic committee, the attendance at lectures, etc., during the year was exceptionally good, the average being over GO at each lecture. Tho increase in membership for the year was 21, and the number on the monitor.-/ roll now stands at 118, with 12 new members just, elected for the coming year. The club was fortunate, in obtaining- the services and assistance of members of the General Staff for lectures on various military matters, and the ell'orts of these officers were much appreciated by members. A .systematic study of the main battles of the Kusso-Japanosc war was also entered into, various officers taking up a set portion each. These lectures wore illustrated by means of coloured maps, in the preparation of which a great deal of time and care had been spent. The maps also were the work of officers of the garrison. From October 21 to 23 (inclusive) some 25 members proceeded to Povtrua, where a short instructional course was carried out under the direction of Colonel Heard, who afterwards criticised the work done. The committee regrets that a larger number of members did not avail themselves of the opportunity to attend this short cjiirse. The state of the club's funds is satisfactory.

The thanks of the club are due to Colonel Campbell, V.D., for hi? present of a framed engraving of Field Marshal the Duke of Wellington, which now hangs in the club room. During the "oft" season the club rooms were moved from the ground floor to their present position, and the change is heartily welcomed, the club now having better and more commodious rooms.
