A Folding Wedding,
The Fcilding correspondent of The Dominion writes that at Waituna West, yesterday, tho marriage took place of Miss Mary Kathleen Williamson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Williamson, to Mr. Frank William «Luxford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luxford, Hamilton, and formerly of Palmerston North. The ceremony took place in the home of the bride's parents, and among those present were Mrs. and Miss Luxford, of Hamilton, Etchings in the Baillie Gallery. A. still further addition to tho Baillie Gallery is the exhibition of magnificent etchings by Frank Brtuigvyii, together with another collection,. done in-colours, by Charles Maokay. They were -placed on view for tho first time yesterday afternoon, mid cannot fail to give a great amount of pleasure to the visitor. Very characteristic of Brangwyn and full of life and vigour is one, "The Towpath," and another, "The Bakers," while very beautiful is "The Apse of the Cathedral, Messina," and also "The Old Mill, Bruges." The colouring in those of Charles Mackay is very delightful, notably in "The Fish Market," and in the Venetian scenes. Tho death grip of tho lion and the tiger, is fascinating in its power and deadly ferocity. A Farewell Tea. The departure of a Homeward bound steamer from Wellington is always the occasion for the occurrence of a number of farewell tea-parties, and yesterday a very enjoyablo morning tea was given by Mrs. A. M'Vicar, in Miss Tendalrs pretty tea-rooms, for Miss Mender, who left by tho Corinthic for London. Among those present were Mrs. M'Vicar, and of course Miss Mander, Mrs. Whyte, Mr. M'Vicar (a visitor from Australia), Miss Cable, Mrs. Rutherford, Mrs. IT Loan, Mr. and Mrs. Kerr (Napier), and 1 , their son, Dr. Platts-Mills. Miss Flora M'Vicar, and Miss M'Lellan. Mr. and Mrs. H. Bunny and Miss Bunny, who have ton staying «t the Royal Oak for tho last few days, left on their return to "Ahiaruhe" (Wairarapa) yesterday. Miss Haltane is visiting friends in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. Caselberg (Mastorton) have been spending a few days in Wellington, staying at the Royal Oak. Mrs. Sprott (Bishopscourt) was a passenger by the Corinthic for Loudon. Miss Maunsell (Wairarapa) is in town, and is staying with Mrs. H. Hall, Hill Street. Miss Brodie (Auckland) left for England yesterday by tho Corinthic. Mrs. A. Creighton-Hale, ' specialist in massage treatmont, and of excellent repute, both in London and in New Zealand, is giving a demonstration of her method of massage before the nursing staff of thfc Wellington Hospital this evening, the honorary masseuse on the medical stalf, Nurse'Everitt, assisting. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kerr (Napier) are spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs. E. T. Daniel (Wellington) is at present in Otaki. Her sister (Mrs. Byron Brown) is in Christchurch, where Mr. Brown and his eon are competing in the elocutionary contests. Mrs.'Hosking (Masterton) and Miss Bennett have been visiting Wellington. Miss A. M. Freeman, M.C.A. and N.1.5.C., London, arrives in Wellington on Juno 19, on a visit to her sister. While in Wellington, Miss Freeman, who is the holder of very high diplomas for domestic science, and has attended the Edinburgh School of Domestic Science, is prepared to give some private lessons on various kinds of cooking, which will be given to those who wish to take advantage of the opportunity, in their own homes, and with their own utensils and materials. Up till now the difficulty with experts has been that they have given lessons with every conceivable means at handmeans wliich the pupil has not always been able to ''command in her own home. Mrs. A. K. Newman and Miss Ethel Nathan leave to-day for Sydney. Mrs. Ziman and her daughters left for England yesterday by the Corinthic. Mrs. Andrew, who has been on a visit to the Wairarapa, is expected to arrive in Wellington to-day. Mrs. H. M. Jenkins and Mr. P. W. Burbidge have been awarded the Jacob Joseph scholarships for 1912, on the recommendation of the Professorial Board of Victoria College. On Tuesday evening the death »took place of Sister Veronica, of the Hill Street Convent. The deceased ladv was a sister of Mr. James Walshe, of Tinakori Road, and came to Wellington from Auckland in 1865. MRS. ROLLESTON, Hair Specialist (qual.
